| O consumo de forragem foi avaliado em novilhas de corte exclusivamente em pastagem de azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) ou recebendo farelo de arroz integral (FAI) com ou sem adição de ionóforo. Foi usado o óxido de cromo como indicador da produção fecal. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, com medidas repetidas no tempo, com três tratamentos e três repetições de área. Os animais foram considerados as unidades experimentais nas avaliações de consumo. O consumo de pasto pelas novilhas foi similar nos diferentes sistemas alimentares, ocasionando taxa de lotação semelhante. | ABSTRACT Body development and reproductive performance of a hundred forty-two 14 to 15-month-old heifers, classified at weaning according to frame size as small, medium, and large, were evaluated. The parameters evaluated were: body weight, hip height, body condition score, weight gain, ovarian activity, and pregnancy rate. At weaning, body weight and hip height were significantly different among frame scores, (small – 133.0 kg, 92.2 cm; medium – 158.5 kg, 96.6 cm; and large – 185.2 kg; 100.2 cm). After weaning, heifers grazed together on natural pastures during the autumn and on ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum La.) during the winter and spring. | Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of extenders solutions in tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) semen cooling at 6°C. The treatments consisted of semen dilutions with three extenders - BTS, HBSS, and ACP-104 -, and a control with undiluted semen. Cooled semen was evaluated by 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours. There were differences for the duration of motility and fertilization rates among the semen dilutions. Motility duration proved a highly variable evaluation after 72 hours. Dilution testing can be performed by the three products, and cooling storage for 72 hours is most effective with BTS extender. |

| ABSTRACT Aiming at breeding heifers with 14-15 months of age, 100 Hereford calves were subjected to different feeding systems. Heifers grazed on a natural pasture in early winter, fed or not a supplement (14% crude protein; 72% total digestible nutrients), were transferred to a ryegrass pasture for 73 days, and then returned to a natural pasture for 15 days until the beginning of the breeding season. During the last 15 days on ryegrass pasture and the 15 days of the return to the natural pasture, half of the heifers of the two previous systems were offered the supplement, thereby establishing four feeding treatments.
